TARGET GROUP - A-219 is a triennial requirement for certified HECM & HELR positions.

TRAINEE PREREQUISITES

• Students should have an Interagency Aviation Training (IAT) profile established prior to the training. Profiles can be established at: https://www.iat.gov/.

COURSE DESCRIPTION - A-219 provides technical refresher training and a comprehensive review of procedures and equipment for agency personnel participating in helicopter external load operations. Students will receive classroom training and will be asked to demonstrate thorough knowledge of procedures to safely conduct helicopter external load, hover hookup, and longline operations. This is a performance-based training module requiring successful completion of instructor led presentation and exercises.

COURSE OBJECTIVES - Live practical helicopter exercises will not be offered at this refresher. Personnel needing initial certification as HELR require both A-219 and participation in an S-271 field day, offered locally during annual rappel crew training week.
