TARGET GROUP - Personnel desiring to be qualified as a STLD or TFLD. This course is primarily designed to prepare experienced single resource bosses and initial attack IC’s in the tactics necessary at the strike team/task force leader level. It is also valuable for operations supervisors qualified at higher management levels who have not received training in wildfire suppression tactics.
COURSE DESCRIPTION - This is a 24 hour course disigned to meet the training requirements outlined in the PMS 310-1, Wildland Fire Qualifications Guide and the position task books developed for the positions of STLD/TFLD. Examples and exercises in this package are specific to wildland fire suppression.
COURSE OBJECTIVES - Demonstrate the ability to apply the Risk Management Process found in the Incident Response Pocket Guide to various Incidents.
Identify and describe the responsibilities of a STLD/TFLD.
Demonstrate the ability to apply appropriate tactics in various incident situations with various resources organized into strike teams or task forces.
COURSE PRE-REQUISITES - Qualified as Single Resource Boss, completion of pre-course work.
